Diretora de Pesquisas em Comunicação, da University of Oregon, Eugene (EUA). Autora de “How Hollywood Works” (Sage, 2003); “Understanding Disney: the manufacture of fantasy” (Polity Press/Blackwell, 2001); e “Hollywood in the information age: beyond the silver screen” (Polity Press, 1994). Foi organizadora de “A companion to television” (Blackwell, 2005) e “Dazzled by Disney? The global Disney audience Project” (Leicester University Press/Continuum, 2001). Publicou vários outros volumes sobre economia política da comunicação e indústria cinematográfica norte-americana. Obteve Ph.D. na University of Illinois e mestrado na California State University.
